Thrifting! (fashion post)

First, I would like to apologise on lack of posting. It's been a mix of work, going back to school, and...being sort of lazy. I'm sorry! Please don't hate me. I know I don't have many followers, but I do appreciate the ones I have tremendously! Now, onto the post;

I'm amazed at how some people are "above" thrifting, even if they're in an alternative style. Yes, brand names are great to have, but in my opinion, thrifting is more fun and a gateway to being more creative! I actually just got back from Goodwill, and have a few goodies to show. :) (Also from last week's Goodwill trip that I was too lazy to take pictures of! Sorry! xD)

My favourite out of today's trip, it's actually from one of my favourite stores (Forever 21) and the price tag was still attached! It originated for $20!:

Lol the plastic thingies are sticking out, sorry. >:

I love this skirt though, it's so pretty with the silver against the black! <3

Another one I bought was a corset top; I'm pretty sure it went with a bridal gown. (Or maybe a costume, cos of the plastic zipper?):

(the skirt and corset work together adorably!)

Last thing I bought for myself there was this skirt I was *hoping* to modify for Lolita, but I'm not sure if I can. Still cute!:

It's hard to see the sparklies and flowers, but it's a nice touch! :)

Also, this is what I bought last week. I was on a bit of a hime mood!

(weird photo, sorry. It's hard to do this from a webcam.>: )

This dress is adorable! I originally wanted to cut it up and make a spaghetti strap top, but it was too cute once I tried it on! It goes perfectly with the next item I bought that day!

It's also a weird photo, sorry. It's  a lace sweater! It's sooo adorable. It was actually a size too small for me (which I didn't try it on nor did I really take much notice when I bought it) but luckily me wearing it enough kind of stretched it out. xD;

----------
So, this proves that thrifting IS fun! For you who have never done it, go to a thrift store or Goodwill and look! :D

Also, since I'm doing a new post anyway, random bow I bought from an awesome seller on Etsy!

Lady Gaga > German homework

I AM SO EXCITED!!! Lady Gaga just leaked her lyrics to her new song "Born this Way". It's amazing, and it just makes me love her even more!!! Lyrics like this make me wonder how people can call her rubbish.

Here's the link!!

So yeah. I should be doing my German homework right now!!! It's all her fault!! xD

Learning differences between music

Hello kids! Today's discussion will be about learning the differences between music.

A week or so ago, I was at work when a family came in, buying a ton of CDs. Classics, like Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, etc. etc. All was well, until the dad spoke:

"They just don't make music like they used to. Like Bad Romance, and..*names random top 40 songs I can't remember at the moment*".

STOP.

Really, dude? D:

1.) No. Of course they don't make music "like they used to". Music evolves, every decade, every generation. When my sister was my age, music what was popular then is different than it is now. So yeah, music always evolves. I'm sure your parents complained about your Rolling Stones vinyls as being trash or just noise.

2.) You...can't...compare things like Lady Gaga or any pop singer to people like the ones you're buying! What does Gaga have in comparison to Osbourne, Van Halen, or even Metallica!? Nothing. You could compare, let's say, Cher to Gaga or Led Zeppelin to...Nine Inch Nails or Breaking Benjamin or something.  But not something completely different from the other. It just doesn't work that way.

Anyway, that was my mini-lesson/rant for the day. :3

First fashion post! I made rose clips for my shoes. :3

So, I'm finally productive! Feeling a little crafty, I got fabric and fake roses I had laying around, determined to make *something*. So, I made shoe clips for my silver heels! :) Since I found them slightly boring with some outfits, and I've been looking at a lot of hime stuff lately, I decided this was perfect.

I'm not sure if you could call this hime at all, or even lolita. But nonetheless, I'm proud of what I've accomplished, and they're so cute!

Lololol webcam photo.

Yay messy table. x3

All I really did was take a bobby pin and hot glue the rose onto the pin, then sliding it through the little open way of the shoe...if that makes sense at all.

Shoes before:

So yeah~ :D Tell me what you think!

Happy Birthday, David Bowie.

I realise my time, it's not 8 January yet, but in England it is! So I must make a post about this...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID BOWIE! <333333

Today, he celebrates his 64th birthday.
As I've mentioned before, he's been a huge inspiration to me, and is definitely my most favourite musician.

So, again, Happy Birthday, Mr. Bowie! :D

Pop bands!

So, recently, my love for pop bands has found itself again. I mostly blame me watching Spice World the other night.
I still claim my love for these girls! Especially Baby Spice, since she's been my favourite since I was a kid.

It's a shame I lost my poster I had when I was....7. xD And it's also a shame I can't find the only CD I ever had, even if it was a single. :(

But anyway, I was doing the surfing on the internet thing the other day, and found myself listening to Asian pop bands. I stopped liking J-pop bands in high school, when I decided J-rock was just more awesome.
Then I started listening to Girls Generation, who I for some reason was under the impression they were Japanese, though they're very obviously Korean.

I don't really know anything about this group, just some of the songs I listened to were *adorable*! They make me all warm and fuzzy inside. :3

Also, while I was on the hunt for take out Chinese food one day with my boyfriend and his friend, we went to a restaurant that...was actually playing pop music! Not just the traditional Chinese music! I gasped, and loved whatever the lady was playing, As we waited for our food, I asked her who it was, so I could look them up later. She was adorable and seemed thrilled I actually took an interest to the music her iPhone was playing, She introduced me to Taiwanese group S.H.E.

I've never been one for music in Cantonese nor Mandarin, it wasn't until I watched the show Firefly that I actually found an appreciation for the latter language! But I adore them, especially their song "Superstar". The girl on the far left, Ella, is my favourite. I love the fact she has that whole tomboy thing going on, which you don't see in many girl pop bands.

Another pop band I can openly claim my love for is Swedish group ABBA. They are awesome, and anyone who listens to pop knows it! :D
They've been around for 30 years at least as you know. They've had "comebacks" during the 1990s and 2000s, so they still perform on occasion. I love the fact they even have a broadway musical turned movie from their song, "Mamma Mia!"

Vivienne Westwood and her influence on the punk scene

One of the reasons why I adore Vivienne Westwood so very much is because of her impact on the punk scene, British, American, and even recently, Japanese.

I have a book I bought at a small indie bookstore here; the book is called "Punk the Whole Story". It's a bunch of interviews from Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols, Debbie Harry from Blondie, and so forth. It's rather fascinating to read their intake of it all when punk and anarchy was at its peek in the late 1970s. (As for America, it was all fashion and music.)

What I also found awesome is their love of Westwood fashion. Even watching and reading the NANA series,  Ai Yazawa manages to slip Westwood's famous logo in somewhere in their clothing.

In my opinion, she's one of the most unique fashion designers that deal with "high fashion".

What do you guys think about Vivienne Westwood? Any thoughts on anything? Tell me! :D

P.S. No, I'm not an anarchist, I just find it fascinating to learn about the music and fashion. :P

Mandatory introductory post! :3

Hello to all! My name is Apple, and this will be my means of communicating through the things I obsess over- which will mostly be music, fashion, nerdy things, and anything else that I can think of~

You're thinking: "Who is this Apple? Is she a fruit?"

While that is debatable, Apple is a 19 year old girl from Alabama! She attends university to study German and music journalism, and she also works in a music store that she loves. She also loves "odd" fashion, which consists mainly of Japanese fashion and Vivienne Westwood. :)

"What about the music part? Don't tell me, you like everything but country and rap."

lololl. No. xD

While I do like a lot of things, I could bore you forever on that part. For now, let's talk about my absolute favourites!

David. Bowie.

Yes, he's so amazing, he gets two periods!

Yes, you get the photo with Bowie Cat. :D He's the reason I love music, and Jim Henson.
Being in the music industry for over 40 years, he's been original every album he's made, every persona. (Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane, anyone?)

King Jareth, King of the Labyrinth! ;D

Another big love of mine is the Finnish band, Sonata Arctica!
Old photo is old.

They're a power metal band, and amazing in concert~

Lastly (for now!) You either hate or love her, Lady Gaga.
Go ahead, giggle, squeal, or roll your eyes if you wish. But she is amazing, and is an artist, indeed. Plus, one of her major influences is David Bowie, so she's definitely awesome in my book~

----

So, I end here. I hope you follow me in my journey of music, fashion, and whatever else. I also hope I don't bore you to tears!

Cheers to all!
